Sean in the Sky Blue

CCFPA wishes ‘Many Happy Returns’ for today to Sean Flynn who has been an Association member since 2009. A Brummy born on 13th March 1968 Sean is therefore celebrating his 54th birthday today!

Sean, a sturdy and tenacious pocket battleship of a midfielder, came to CCFC from Halesowen Town in December 1991. He got his debut on Boxing Day 1991 in a 3-0 win over Sheffield United and scored the second in the 57th minute! Overall Sean played 105 competitive games for the Sky Blues (scoring ten goals).

He left for Derby County in time for the 1995-6 season and his subsequent Football League career took him to Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion, Tranmere Rovers and Kidderminster Harriers until 2003 when he finished his time in the game playing at a number of non league clubs. Before then Sean had clocked up 34 goals in 436 Football League games.

These included Evesham United and Redditch Town, before he eventually settled in Cornwall where he turned out for Bodmin, Mullion (who he later managed), Penzance and lastly for Falmouth Town in 2012 well into his forties!

Though he lives a fair way away from the Midlands we look forward to seeing him back in Coventry now things have returned to something like normal for a CCFPA event or Sky Blue home game.

Hope you have a good one today Sean!
