The Morrises: A Happy Richard & Sarah

Legends Day 2024 last Saturday was a brilliant occasion with a bumper Sky Blue crowd at the CBS united with 36 visiting CCFC ‘stars of the past’ in hoping to see a winning end to the 2023-24 Championship season for Mark Robins’ men. Sadly this was not to be as the Sky Blues went down 2-1 to visitors Queens Park Rangers.  However this reverse did not put much of a dampener on this years’ grand Former Player reunion as a good time was had by all, as evidenced by recent and future posts on this site, as we provide a photo record of the day.

Each annual Legends Day is unique and both club and Association put a lot of hard work and planning in ensuring everything runs smoothly and by-and-large we achieve the aim of providing a fulfilling experience for fans and FPs alike. This would not happen without the tremendous work put in by the Association’s committed band of committee members and volunteers and all those corporate members, associate members, sponsors and Former Players who give us their time and financial support.

The two Richards with the award

Two of most important members of the committee have for several years now been husband and wife team of Richard and Sarah Morris.  Amongst other duties they are our match-day organisers guiding and supporting the visit of each home games’ ‘special guest’. They are both a key interface between CCFC and CCFPA (which we remind you has always been totally independent of the club whilst fully supportive of it).

Sarah and Richard are well known, loved and respected by both our Former Player membership as well as manager Mark Robins and each years’ squad of current players. Legends Day is a day when their hard work comes to fruition and, therefore, is a suitable day for their massive input to be recognised. Without their organisational flair, forward planning, communication skills and excellent relations with all they deal, Legends Day would not be the Annual success it always is!

The Morrises share the thanks from the Premier Lounge audience

This year Richard was the recipient of our annual ‘Clubman of the Year‘ award and Sarah was presented with a bouquet and lots of hugs and kisses in the CBS Arena’s Premier Lounge before the match kicked off at 12.30pm. Making his first appearance at a Legends Day former Sky Blue defender Richard Shaw did a great job ‘doing the honours’ as these images testify! Well done Richard and Sarah and thanks ‘Shozza’!

Thanks to CCFPA’s ‘Official Photographer’ Andy Scaysbrook for the photos.
