CCFPA’s own LD24 programme for our FPs

Last Saturday’s Legends Day 2024 at the CBS Arena (sponsored by the Coventry Building Society) was yet another very successful event in the long history of our annual reunion. Thirty six Former Players (FPs) from across more than six decades of CCFC playing prowess turned up nice and early for the earlier than usual 12.30pm kick-off Championship game against Queens Park Rangers in glorious sunshine.

Sadly, Mark Robins’ men (as at LD23) were not able to produce a winning performance for the club legends. However, this did not unduly spoil the club’s last day of the season when another bumper crowd not only feted the current Sky Blue squad for another brilliant campaign but were also able to honour the club’s ‘stars of the past’.

Yesterday we promised you full photo coverage in coming days of the various parts of our brilliant day with the ‘Legends’. Accordingly, here is the first part featuring the arrival of our FP members (and their guests).

Each of our FPs was asked to arrive around 9.15 to register at our welcome desk ran by CCFPA committee member Mike Young and his wife Jill. There they received their welcome packs, CCFPA name badge, access wrist bands and tickets for themselves and their guests. They were also asked to sign a couple of wonderful pieces of future memorabilia,  framed posters with the words of the Sky Blue fans anthem (sung before each game) penned by famous local group, the Enemy  ‘We Live And Die In These Towns’! They also autographed copies of the Association’s specially produced LD24 programme (avove) given to all CCFPA’s FPs and their guests*

After mingling with other arrivals our ‘stars of the past’ were conducted upstairs by CCFPA volunteer helpers to join their colleagues in the CBS Arena’s top floor Premier Lounge for a wonderful pre-match brunch and drinks shared. The FPs tables were spread around a packed room of fellow Sky Blue supporters who had bought their chance to ‘Lunch with the Legends’  and join in all the fun and games laid on for our FPs. Check back on this site for photo and video coverage of the interviews and other activities involving our FP guests and CCFPA committee members in the CBS Premier Lounge.

Look out for more pics of our FP arrivals later on today and more of them all in the many pics and videos we publish in subsequent posts in coming days.
