Legends Day 2024 – The Half-Time Centre Circle Team Photo

CCFC’s special matchday programme featuring six Legends from across six decades (all in attendance)

)Even though the Sky Blues lost out 2-1 to Queen’s Park Rangers in their final Championship game of the season the sun came out and spirits were lifted by another wonderful Legends Day reunion. The club and Association hosted thirty-six of CCFPA’s members, 35 former players and and one ex physio of the club covering nearly seventy years of Coventry City history. They brought back plenty of memories for the the large CBS crowd as they spent the day with us. Many fans and the media will have made their own records of the day and today and in subsequent days we will offer some of our own from across LD24 from across the day. Starting with the arrival of many former players and guests before 9am through to their mingling in the CBS Premier Lounge for brunch with a large number of dining fans present we will also cover the Q&A sessions with many of their Sky Blue heroes (and welcoming speeches by CCFPA Chairman Jim Brown, President Joe Elliott and club Chairman and owner Doug King).

CCFPA’s own LD24 programme presented to our FPs & their guests

After the Legends sat down to watch the first half we cover in full their individual welcome onto the CBS pitch at half-time and the mutual acclaim given to Sky Blue fans and our FPs as they gathered in the centre circle for their traditional ‘team photo’ (above). After the final whistle our FP guests came together again for more refreshments generously provided by G-Casino and we offer photos from the stage of Lady Gs as our FPs finished another great Legends Day with an enthused audience in singing the Sky Blue Song en masse.

All thes delights await subsequent posts, so keep checking back to see CCFPA’s own photos and videos (some from behind the scenes) taken by the likes of CCFPA’s Richard Morris, Mike Young, Steve Dorrington and our official photographer for the day, Andy Scaysbrook.

First, however, what better day than LD24, after all the excitement had subsided, for the Association to proudly present its own ‘Player of the Season’ Award (made in conjunction with G-Casino) on the pitch to this year’s recipient who had just played his usual fully committed part in the game!

We have already announced that our 2023-24 winner, pipping defender Jake Bidwell, is frequent Sky Blues ‘skipper Ben Sheaf! The photo below shows CCFPA Chairman Jim Brown (and grandson James) making the presentation of this year’s award on the pitch.
