1987 F.A.Youth Cup Winning Squad. Where are you now?

As most if not all readers will be aware it is the 25th Anniversary of the Sky Blues bringing back the F.A.Cup to Coventry after eventually subduing Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 (after extra time) in one of the best Wembley finals of all time.  All too easily overlooked, however, is that Association Members John Sillett and George Curtis brought off a double that year!  Not only their senior squad brought home the silverware on May 16th 1987 but the Junior Sky Blues emulated them by winning their competition three days earlier by beating Charlton Athletic 1-0  (also after extra time) in the F.A.Youth Cup Final at Highfield Road. This was the return leg having drawn 1-1 at Charlton on April 28th 1987.

The Association does not want this ‘other’ victorious ’87 Squad (pictured above) to miss out on the celebrations CCFPA are planning for the senior F.A.Cup heroes in the next few months so we are asking readers help in tracking down the following members of CCFC’s youth squad of  the 1986-87 campaign.

John Gowens (who is currently a physio at Dagenham & Redbridge FC) recently contacted us to suggest a reunion. Mick Coop (the coach) and Tony Dobson are already full members of the Association (so we know where they are!) and physio Neil Sillett’s dad John should be able to track him down but we want still want to find:-

Paul Bastock; twin brothers Craig and Lee Middleton; brothers Antony and Robert Smith; Paul Jones; Chris Galley; Michael Cook; Howard Clark; Steve Livingstone; Paul Shepstone; and Gary Marshall.

If any of our readers are these junior F.A.Cup heroes or you know where we can find them please email your/their contact details to either CCFC Club Historian Jim Brown at  clarriebourton@gmail.com or CCFPA Secretary Mike Young at m.young9@ntlworld.com or send a message through the ‘Contacts’ tab on this website.
