1920s
27th November 1920 Coventry City 1-1 Leeds United (attendance c.19000)
For their second season in Division 2 City finish one place lower (21st) but once again escape relegation. This draw in their 16th game against United (in their inaugural season) produced only their 11th point having won only 3 times so far. Centre forward Bert Millard scored for the City. The following week saw Leeds thump the City 4-0 at Elland Road in the return fixture. The programme for 1920-21 was reduced in size from the news-sheet style effort of the previous season to a still large 4 page all white ‘official organ’ costing tuppence. It featured a novel (supposedly humorous) cartoon on the front page of each issue. This one highlights the junior Bantams ‘chicks’ losing 4-2 to a representative side formed from the local Coventry & North Warwickshire League as well as the latest views of the ‘Opti’ and ‘Pessi’ Mist brothers representing the two traditions of football fans that are still with us today!
