Ian in Sky Blue action

CCFPA sends its very best wishes to former Sky Blue striker and Association member Ian Wallace who is celebrating his 68th birthday today!

The true Sky Blue Legend and goal poacher extraordinaire is a very good friend to the Association and comes back to see us from his Scottish home as often as he can to our reunions and, on occasion, as our our ‘special’ match-day guest.

Wally hams it up at Legends Day!!

Ian has been regular visitor to our Legend Days and it was great to see him at LD 2024.

‘Wally’ needs little introduction to Sky Blues’ fans being fondly remembered as a will o’ the wisp inside forward during the late 1970s, chiefly famous for the potent partnership he forged as the more delicate foil to forceful centre forward (and now fellow CCFPA member) Mick Ferguson between 1976-80.

Born on 23rd May 1956 in Glasgow, Ian was signed by then Sky Blue gaffer Gordon Milne (now also a CCFPA member) from Dumbarton FC and in the four seasons before departing in July 1980 (for one of the first ever £1m transfers) to Nottingham Forest he managed a brilliant strike rate of 59 goals in 140 first team appearances as well as several Under 21 and full caps for Scotland.

After showing almost equally impressive form with the Forest from 1984 he tried his luck in France, Madeira and Australia (as well as Sunderland)  before returning to manage Dumbarton from 1977-79.

Happy Birthday Ian – we are sure you will enjoy celebrating your birthday today and look forward to seeing you back with us soon, hopefully during the Sky Blues next Championship season!
