Andy Whing in the Sky Blue

Manager Andy Whing and his assistant Craig Pead, have now guided their club Banbury United to become Champions of their division. The Puritans took the Southern League Central Division title after a 1-1 home draw against Tamworth yesterday!

‘Whingy’ has been Banbury Boss since August 2020 after building experience coachig with Kidderminster Harriers (2017) and Hereford (2019). The right back began his career with the back in 2003 playing well over a hundred Sky Blues before moving to Brighton in 2008 (after a loan period). Before hanging up his playing boots he also played for Chesterfield (on loan 2010), Leyton Orient (after a loan spell in 2010) and Oxford United between 2011-15.

Craig also started his professional career with City after coming up through the youth ranks and made 45 appearances (scoring twice) for the Sky Blues between 1998-2005 plus loan appearances at both Notts County (2004) and Walsall (2005).

With the loan spell and a subsequent contract Craig scored a Saddlers’ century between 2004-07 before moving on to Brentford for a couple of seasons. He rounded off his playing career with Coventry Sphinx (briefly) and Redditch United in 2010-11 before ending up at Banbury as Whingy’s assistant.

Good luck to the pair next season also and we look forward to seeing both again at Sky Blues games as observers!
