Dietmar in the 1960s

CCFPA committee member, Sky Blues legend (and proud grandfather) Dietmar Bruck has sent us this heartwarming family story more than tinged with Sky Blue. Diet’s 18 year old grand-daughter Georgia, a ‘Cov Kid’ and Sky Blue fan has produced her own visual tribute to CCFC’s home of well over a century, Highfield Road (above). Too young to visit the ground in its heyday the painting encapsulates her vision of the place where her grand-dad had some of his finest playing experiences. We think it is worth sharing with you!

Georgia told Diet that she loves art and has enjoyed honing her artistic skills (which now include digital, pencil work and painting in a range of mediums) ever since Primary School. She gained an A star grade at GCSE and is currently in the final year of her A-Levels! She has supported “The City” all of her life being a Season Ticket Holder for the past 10 years and Match day being the highlight of her week!

Both grandads (Dietmar and Terry) have provided inspiration for linking her twin loves of Art and the Sky Blues apparently and the Sky Blue link hrough our committee member is not the only one as her dad Alun French who was a young Sky Blue professional in the early 1990s. All these family members share a Sky Blue passion and hve both been elated and suffered at the hands of a club that has seen many ups and downs!

She especially remembers the Sky Blues last two (both winning) visits to Wembley (The Checkatrade and L2 Playoff Finals). Both ‘were brilliant occasions ‘where fantastic memories were made‘ However the best game she has witnessed so far is theSky Blues L1 5-4 defeat of Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last season.

Gus Hamer in the Sky Blue

Georgia tells us that her all-time favourite player is CCFPA member Michael Doylewho served the club so well over two spells‘. Her favourite amongst the current CCFC squad is our Brazilain star Gus Hamer! She fervently hopes the Sky Blues can stay up in the Championship this season and that we can keep Gus and build the team around him for next season. We are sure Georgia speaks for all Sky Blue fans in this!

Just to further illustrate how talented Dietmar’s grand-daughter is an artist we also show you (above) a couple of other of her works involving (in different styles) her dog Stan! Dietmar is kindly sending every member of the CCFPA committee a print of Georgia’s Highfield Road memory.
