Pat in the Sky Blue

The Association would like to wish our member and former Sky Blue forward Patrick Suffo ‘Happy 39th Birthday’ for today. Patrick was born on 17th January 1978 in the Cameroon (for whom he has gained almost 30 international caps). He has had to travel all over the world to further his profession, though disciplinary issues have hampered his career. However, since 2014 he has been back in the City turning out for (and helping to manage) Coventry United for a spell!

Patrick was introduced to European football by French outfit, Nantes in 1995 and also got some loan experience in Spain with Barcelona’s reserves. He first came to the UK when signed for Sheffield United in 2000 but returned overseas to play briefly in Spain for Numancia (2002) and Saudi Arabia for Al-Hilal (2003). The Sky Blues took a chance to bring him back to English football on a free in 2003 for a couple of seasons and he repaid them with a decent goal haul of 10 goals in 48 league appearances (many off the subs bench) and 12 in 54 appearances overall.

After leaving the Sky Blues Patrick had short sojourns in Dubai, Norway, Israel and Spain between 2005-08 before returning to the UK on a game by game basis with non-league Wrexham in 2008-09. Before landing at Coventry United Pat had also turned out for Alvis FC and Bedworth Liberal WMC. He was signed up for CCFPA in 2011 and still lives locally.

Happy Birthday Pat- have a great one.
