CCFPA ‘special guest’ yesterday, former Sky Blue striker Dele Adebola saw the current Sky Blue strike force take a leaf out of his book and wallop Shrewsbury Town 3-0 (and it could/should have been more). A brace from Adam Armstrong and a penalty from MoM Marc Antoine-Fortune (who also made both of Adam’s strikes) saw the Sky Blues maintain their top six position and continue their unbeaten run at the Ricoh this season.

Dele, a mean striker himself (scoring in both CCFC’s last game at Highfield Road as well as the first at the Ricoh), was impressed by the pace and inventiveness of the team going forward as the Sky Blues gave the Shrews (whose defence included former young CCFC defender Jermaine Grandison) a torrid time. Sky Blue goalie Reice Charles-Cook, making his League One debut, was a picture of competence at the back of a Sky Blue defence which kept another clean sheet and protected Reice from having to save a single direct shot all game.

Ever popular Dele arrived at the Ricoh early and, as well as touring the Ricoh lounges to meet the fans in the company of fellow CCFPA member and former CCFC defender Brian Roberts, also went down to the Family Zone to meet the youngest generation of Sky Blues supporters (and Sky Blue Sam) in the company of veteran former players Bill Tedds and Ron Farmer and current Sky Blue Jordan Willis who is recovering from injury. Amongst those former players also booked into the Level One Lounge to watch the game were CCFPA members  Kirk Stephens, Peter Wyer, Micky Gynn, Dave Bennett, Ken Brown, Gordon Simms, Ian Goodwin, Bob Wesson, Ken Satchwell, Claus Jorgensen, Dietmar Bruck, Peter Hormantschuck, Graham Walker, Brian Nicholas, Lol Harvey and Tony Dobson.

Dele on Stage 2 xDele did his stint at BBC CWR live matchday analyst during the game and had some very interesting things to say on the airwaves to those who were unable to join the 11000 Ricoh fans in person. As usual, and as is expected of our special guests, Dele was enticed down to the G-Casino after the game to appear in front of an appreciative audience of Sky Blues’ fans on the stage of Lady Gs with CCFPA’s very own Billy Bell.

Thanks Dele for being a great ‘special guest’ and we hope to see you back at the Ricoh soon!
