Sky Blues F.A.Cup winning hero Micky Gynn, fresh from being one of the ‘Fantastic 40’ who attended Legends Day 2015 at the Ricoh last Saturday, watched the Sky Blues achieve a much better result at their away game at Peterborough today (28/03/2015). The Sky Blues achieved their third successive away win at Posh’s ABAX stadium with a tight 1-0 victory delivered through a second half Blair Turgott goal in only this loanee’s second start.

In fact, though a proud CCFPA member, Micky is a also a London Road legend having started out as a youth with Peterborough United and scoring 39 goals in 188 appearances in five seasons from 1978-83 before signing for the Sky Blues (jumping from Division Four to Division One) in August 1983. At Highfield Road Micky made all his 241 league appearances in the top division (32 goals) [291 apps 45 goals in total] leaving at the end of our first Premier league season in May 1993 to finish his top level career with Stoke City the following season. A highlight of his career with the Sky Blues was obviously winning an F.A.Cup winners medal with City after a wonderful Wembley performance in May 1987.

Micky was a special guest for Posh at the game and was given a great welcome from both the Peterborough fans and the travelling Sky Blue Army when welcomed onto the pitch at half-time. Micky who also acts as a match day assessor reporting on the match statistics will, no doubt, have had mixed feelings about the result and would have had to show some restraint in the circumstances especially when the Sky Blues goal went in! He and all Sky Blues fans will hope the three points won will add to improving statistics for the Club as they seek to pull away from the relegation places.

Incidentally the Club’s match-day commentary on Sky Blue Player provided on the day by the BBC CWR team of Stuart Linnell, Clive Eakin and Martin Winch also included a chat with Micky’s fellow CCFPA member and former superconfident Sky Blue forward Peter Bodak who was also in good form!

Look out on this site for news on who will be the Association’s special guest at the Sky Blues game at the Ricoh next Wednesday in what is undoubtedly a six pointer against Leyton Orient.
