According to reports at least three CCFPA members are amongst the 80 or so that made enquiries about replacing CCFPA member Steven Pressley in the vacant Sky Blues managerial hot seat. David Thompson, Noel Whelan and John Hartson have all thrown their hat into the ring. David, who made 66 midfield league appearances (15 goals) for City between 2000-02, has recently been a coach with Liverpool’s Academy and has passed his UEFA badges. Noel who was an exciting striker between 1995-2000 and scored 31 goals in his 133 league games for CCFC, as yet, has no senior managerial experience. John, who produced a cameo half season in 2000-2001 for City scoring 6 times in his 12 league outings,  has been busy on the media and after dinner speaking circuit though has experience as assistant manager to Chris Coleman’s Welsh national side during 2013.

Steve Waggott CCFC’s CEO has already talked to some candidates and is reported to have whittled the applicants down to around 20 from the original 87 and is reportedly of the view that less than ten of the applicants have the right mix of skills, experience and proven record to fit the requirements of turning the Club’s season around. We don’t know yet whether David, Noel and John are going to make the cut but wish all three of them well.
