The Sky Blues Old Boys’ squad

A Sky Blues veterans team stuffed full of CCFPA members went up to their northern neighbours to help celebrate the opening of Bedworth United’s new 3G pitch earlier today (21st September 2014). The CCFC Old Boys ran out 8-1 victors in a friendly, well contested but fairly one sided game in front of a decent crowd. The Sky Blues squad included (see if you can spot them in the team photo above) (CCFPA members in bold):- Tynan Scope,David Busst, Dave Bennett, Barry Quinn, Jamie Lenton, Scott Goodwin, John Williams, Dave Titterton, Claus Bech Jorgenson, Marcus Hall, Gavin O’Toole, Paul Shepstone, Iyseden Christie, Micky Clarke, Stuart Storer and Carl Adams.

It took only 13 minutes for the Sky Blues (wearing the ‘Brazilian’ away strip of last season) to score their first two goals and six minutes later CCFPA member  ‘the Flying postman’ John Williams increased the score to 3-0 and then Association committee member Claus Bech Jorgensen made the half time score 4-0.   John Williams scored again in the second half and a consolation goal for Bedworth followed before CCFPA committee man Dave Bennett got the Sky Blues’ sixth. The veterans last two goals were knocked in by former CCFC (and Coventry Sphinx) forward Iyseden Christie and ex Sky Blue Barry Quinn.

Former Sky Blue Jim Holmes played for the defeated home side and John Mason the son of legendary Bantams centre half George Mason was the pitch side announcer. A great day was had by all! Thanks to CCFPA committee member Dean Nelson for the photographs and report.
